BANYAN TREE - VABBINFARU - MALDIVES
This cute little island has become a home from home. A 30 minute boat ride from the airport, take your shoes off on the jetty and don’t put them back again till you board the boat to travel back to the airport. Always greeted by a welcome party and an iced tea - its the perfect welcome after an 11 hour flight (even more welcomed when your flight is delayed for 24 hours) You can walk around the sandy island in 10 minutes, its a tropical paradise!
Beautiful beach villas that look out at the Indian ocean. Private gardens with a little swimming pools, hot tubs & outdoor showers. And there is always a little surprise gift on the end of the bed when you arrive home from dinner.
Delicious buffets - fresh salads, bbq’d reef fish, pastas, sushi and every dessert you can imagine ... Be first in the queue for banana fritters & ice cream!
Ask for a Maldivian Fish curry!
A few years ago when we visited we asked to try a traditional Maldivian curry. It was amazing. And ever since its been our dinner of choice. This trip Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru surprised us with a curry for christmas dinner it was one of the best Christmas dinners I’ve ever had!
Book in for a beach BBQ - Lobster, reef fish & vegetables all served on the beach under the stars.
Lemon ginger cooler!
Scuba diving - take the dive boat out in the morning for 2 dives - Manta Point is my favourite! Don’t fancy a boat ride, the house reef at Ihuru, Angsana (Vabbinfaur’s sister Island) has a wreck that is definitely worth a look. There is often a nurse shark sleeping in the helm.
Snorkelling - jump in the ocean, swim a few yards and you’ll reach the house reef where you’ll see corals, turtles, black tip reef sharks & an array of beautiful reef fish. A lot of the inspiration for our prints comes from that very reef.
Stingray feeding - Take a seat on the jetty at 5pm and you’ll soon be joined by one of the guys from the Marine Centre and a group of stingrays ready for dinner.
Still looking for something to do ... try windsurfing, canoeing, table tennis, the gym.
The Spa - Caught a little too much sun, the Island Dew massage is an awesome way to end an afternoon.
Fins, snorkel, mask
